The Barony of Rocha

"The black raven of the west..."

Ruled by the Baron Navac the 3rd, the barony is best known for spearheading the war to usurp the throne of Wyeth, after the breaking of the Wyethian bloodline, just over 100 years ago. The succession wars lasted nearly 100 years, with member cities of the Freemantle engaged in essentially a civil war, with forces loyal to the crown on one side, and those loyal to Rocha on the other. It is suspected that this war included the first suspected case of Lentokki money supporting the Rocha war effort.   Today, Rocha still stands as the greatest power in east Hariel Majour. It considers itself a sovereign city-state, however it's independent rule is not recognized by the crown of Wyeth. As such, the Baron is always scheming, planning how to gain his full independence while also expanding his holdings. Navac has the support of much of the heartlands, including the cities of the Democracy of Wheat. This more than makes up for his lack of support from the member cities of The Thaw.   The official position of the crown, regarding Rocha, is to let sleeping dogs lie. This causes quite a bit of consternation amongst the detractors (both within and beyond Wyeth) of Clarent Wyeth, the current sovereign king. For his part, Navac is glad to have dangerous eyes pointed elsewhere at the moment.
Barony of Rocha
The Baron Navac III rules his domain from the capitol city of Cornelia. Cornelia sits on the eastern seaboard of Hariel Majour, nestled between the peaks of the Raven's Perch Mountains and the Bay of Blood (which opens up into the World Sea). Cornelia is the largest eastern city on Hariel Majour, boasting a population of over 100,000, including the Baron's private army, the Raven Knights.

Structure

The Barony is ruled from the top down by Navac the 3rd, who is advised by his small, insular court of sycophants and ladder climbers. Power tends to be hoarded, and the Baron only really listens to his sister when it comes to advice.

A good, small primer. I wonder if there's any of these sycophants and ladder climbers to be aware of, as in one who is either flying too close to the sun, or could be an actual threat.
