Lake Terrasque

"Lair of the Deep One..."

Often referred to as a sea, due to its enormous size, Lake Terrasque sits at the center of the Heartlands of Hariel Majour. It is named for the legendary, ancient beast (the Terrasque), which is said to be the "final weapon of the gods." None living have seen this beast, as the last time it allegedly surfaced was during the Sundering. It is said to live in a deep trench or cave at the bottom of the lake.
The only thing keeping it from destroying all life was the mercy of the gods. This is often looked to by the holy as proof of the gods continued involvement in the lives of Gothenkind, despite having "limited" their contact, post-Sundering.
Fed, in part, by a (seemingly) dying river from the north, called The Horn (which also feeds the lands of both Last Harvest and Vale's End), the lake also spawns the Yarea and Elhea rivers, which drain its levels during the "dry season."

Situated at the center of the heartlands, and the source of several prominent rivers.
