Krytuss, Lord of Corruption

"The Great Rot...The Wasting King..."

"The Lord of Corruption, Rot, and Disease" on the world of Gothenya is the entity known as Krytuss, "The Decaying One." He is one of The Gods of Gothenya.   One of the lesser gods of Mount Celene, who came to our world two hundred thousand years ago, Krytuss is the younger brother of Ryktuss (the Lord of Death) and Yareuss (The Lord of Life). His uncle is Chronos (The Lord of Time), and he is (sometimes) thought to be the child of Prix O' Preyuss (Chaos Lord Trickster) and Hindelaine (The Lady of Nature). He, himself, is not a member of The Zenithal.   His domain is not that of death itself, but rather both what leads to it, and what is left in its wake. The rising and falling action that leads to and from the climax of death.   His symbol is that of a deer skull (or a deer skull covered in worms), or sometimes a human skull made from worms.   He is singled out from the other Lords of Celene because he is one of the few who escaped from the Holy Mountain during The Sundering, and one of the very few who survived their escape.   It is said that he was injured from the battle between the blood mages and the priests of the Zenithal, and that he sought refuge in a place where he could heal. Wounded, he flew across the lands and the World Sea, smashing down upon what is now called "The Fragments" (or The Serpent's Teeth), created from the might of his impact. He moved on, taking to the air, heading north. Eventually, exhausted, he crashed down yet again on a large isle that once again became fractured from his impact. Here, in the newly formed lands called The Demon Isles, he sunk beneath the ice and quickly froze. It is said he is still there to this very day.   It should be noted that while it is believed the majority of the other gods are sleeping (either directly because of the damage caused by the Sundering, or in response to it), many think that Krytuss is awake, aware of his condition beneath the ice, but unable to free himself.

Holy Books & Codes

Krytuss doesn't have a holy book of his own, yet his histories are collected (as much that are known) in The Tower of Light by the all-knowing order called The Custodians.   He is excluded as a "true god" by the holy book of The Zenithal, who lists him merely as a "child of god" or a "godling." It's quite possible that this insult is a major driving force in his quest for power.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

A deer skull (or a deer skull spilling worms), or a human skull made entirely of worms

Tenets of Faith

The followers of Krytuss must be either practitioners of blood magic, or those inclined to see the benefits of such defiling ways.   Not all blood mages are Lentokki, but all arcane Lentokki are blood mages, or specifically, ones who practice Blood Magic (and who often use Spell Slot Recovery, Blood, amongst other defiling arts).   The greatest of all his followers are The Lentokki God Kings, who follow Krytuss in an attempt to gain his most closely guarded secrets. In fact, the Lord of Corruption has promised the God Kings the secret of immortality (and godhood), theirs for the taking... if only they manage to release him from his icy prison.   The God Kings refer to this promise as "The Ascendency."

Holidays

On the 1st of Darklun the "Dark Night of Loss" is observed by the followers of Krytuss.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

To rise from the ice and reclaim his former glory. To surpass his brothers, and take the portfolio of "Death" from his sleeping brother Ryktuss. To kill the Lord of Death, so as to replace him. To defile all of Gothenya, in order to create a paradise of corruption on the material plane.   But it doesn't end there...   Krytuss also wishes to become an (or the) Outer God. The Elder Being. That which begat the very lords of Celene themselves. The great outer being known as Faldrighel (the taker of light, the giver of none). He will become Faldrighel, or more precisely, Faldrighel will become him... a part of him. An aspect. Krytuss will be the walker of all worlds. He who is everywhere and nowhere all at once.   Krytuss is the only one who knows where Faldrighel currently resides. He is the only one who knows that the Outer Being is weak... and trapped. Ripe for the taking.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Krytuss appears, in avatar form, as either a tall humanoid (often lacking a face), or as either a bipedal beast with a skeletal (animal) head, or non-bipedal as the great "nightmare beast of corruption."

Mental characteristics

Gender Identity

Krytuss seems to identify as male in avatar form, but even this is up for conjecture.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

To become the one true god of Gothenya by usurping his sleeping family, and by taking the portfolio of the Outer God (Elder Being) known as Faldrighel.

Social

Religious Views

The land is for the glory of defiling. All must be taken. None must be given. That is the order of things. Entropy gives as it destroys. Entropy is weak. Rot is a beginning, but not an end. Defilement is the ultimate end. The taking without giving; the order of the strong.
