Within the Library of Dust
General Summary
It was an unusual moment as the Guardians of Golarion opened the doors to the Library of Reenai. First, Hugo Powerfist seemed to materialize out of thin air while squeezing Sir Godric's face. A heartbeat later, a fireball came flying out of the darkness and exploded in the crowd.
From that moment on, it was nothing but chaos. Ella charged into the darkness, Godric following after her. Proteus Marin postioned himself to best retaliate against whatever had attacked them. Buck loaded his gun to prepare for a fight, and Reh started healing those she could reach with her wand.
Ella and Godric were quickly set up by four ashblood orc grunts, while the figure in the darkness tossed another fireball outside the library. More injuries and this time Fjord fell. A massive ashblood savage moved to attack Ella as she advanced toward the drow mage who had now become visible. Once the grunts had fallen, Godric attacked the drow while the rest tried to either recover what health they could or attack the brutal ashblood savage.
With buffs still ticking away, Godric rushed toward one of the sets of doors within the library and threw them open. Within was the Hall of Memories, a chamber used by the elves to store specially prepared globes containing complex illusions that would answer simple questions and converse with guests on specific topics. Each globe covered a different topic, from the nature of magic to the history of the elven people. Of those only a dozen remained intact, and their magic appeared to be waning.
From the balcony, six demonic dretches giggled and attacked. The threw stench clouds as well as whatever glowing orbs they could reach. The badly injured group quickly followed after Godric, making relatively quick work of the demons. Ella and Godric took the front line attacks, while Buck, Proteus, and Hugo attacked from range. Reh and Fjord provided support assistance where they could.
After killing one of the demons, Hugo's gauntlet seemed to fuse with his body. The flesh of his arm burned away, revealing a metallic armored sleeve that appeared to be an extension of the gauntlet itself.
When the dust settled and the demons were dead, the Guardians paused to catch their breath and burn through two healing wands. They also collected whatever they could find of value from the drow and the orcs, and cast uncertain eyes to the remaining set of double doors in the room. The drow mage and orcs had obviously heard their attack on the roof and prepared themselves. If there was anyone beyond those doors, they would probably be prepared as well.
Alive and healthy for the moment, the Guardians considered their next move.
