Professor Clarence (a.k.a. The Enigma)

Speak his name, and he appears.
The being known only as "Clarence" appears to be a regular, boring cleric. In fact, at first glance he is staggeringly boring- a boring clerk from a boring monastery.
But further investigation reveals some oddities that cannot be explained by a conventional understanding of the universe. All that is known of him is shrouded in rumor, and some of it defies all explanation. For instance, some say he can speak to his reflection, but they only communicate using the word "Yes", and end a conversation with "moving on"- at which point his reflection moves after he has. Some say he used to dance ballet, and there are accounts from professional dancers who swear they have performed with him, but cannot remember ever having seen him move. Some even say he was once a nanny, but flew away into the clouds strapped to an umbrella.
There are few things that are known about Clarence. He is accompanied by an eccentric (possibly mad) fellow by the name of Lord Archibald The Brash, a character in his own right who needs his own entry. He has never been seen to move, or even part his hands from underneath his sleeves, and yet he is known to have done many great feats of speed and strength. Strangest of all, If you say his name out loud, there is a chance he will speak from behind you a single word: "Yes?" - and when you turn, he will be standing there as if he was there the whole time. It does not matter how impossible the circumstances, he manages to always be there.
In the opinion of this author, it is all rather creepy and strange, but so far he has not shown any ill-will towards any creature. But then again, there's no reading that stone-cold face of his.
