Orpheus

Legendary bard who attempted to convince Hades to let him bring his wife Eurydice out of the Underworld and back into the land of the living. In Session 1: Way Down Under the Ground, he joins the player characters in their journey to Hades and Persephone's palace. He gains chthonic protection and the chance to bring Eurydice back, under the condition that he does not look back at Eurydice until they are both in the land of the living. Orpheus fails, but chooses to stay in the Underworld with Eurydice; since he is chthonic, he has something of the dead within him, and thus can remain in the realm of the dead when he could not do so while living. Jason, captain of the Argo, mentions that he wanted to recruit Orpheus to join his crew in their quest for the Golden Fleece, but that he was unable to find the bard. The player characters inform him of Orpheus' fate.
