Aphrodite is the goddess of love, beauty, and sexuality. Her physical appearance is a glamour that reflects whatever the beholder finds most attractive, and she has an extremely charismatic air, but underneath, she is capricious, spiteful, and vain, believing herself to be the most powerful goddess on Olympus due to her ability to influence Zeus.
The player characters first encounter her in Session 3: You Give Love A Bad Name, when she offers to be their ally in exchange for seducing a Huntress of Artemis, Atalanta, as part of her ongoing vendetta against Artemis and her followers. The player characters refuse and earn her enmity.

History

Hephaestus and Aphrodite have a deeply troubled marriage. In the past, she has had affairs with other gods and mortals. In one notable instance, Hephaestus designed a trap for his wife, who was cheating on him with his brother Ares. The two lovers were caught in an invisible mesh and shamed in front of the other Olympians. Hephaestus claims to have forgiven his wife for her infidelity, but he vehemently hates her for betraying him to Zeus, who threw him off Olympus (for the third time), and seeks vengeance on both Zeus and Aphrodite.
