Sutan Bath House

Hot water and lovely company soothe the soul.

Purpose / Function

To provide cleanliness to the lowest tier of workers. Also provides companionship to boost overall morale.

Architecture

Sutan is built between two of the massive metal pillars of the city's spine. The front of the building is entirely wood, painted a soothing blue-green color. A large sign declares its name over the double doors of the entrance.

History

Sutan is a massive bath house. Beyond the front entrance and the changing rooms, there are several large communal baths capable of holding twenty to thirty adults comfortably. For a single penny, you get a colored wristband that gets you access to the community pools for an hour rounded up. Each band is colored to represent a specific hour mark, so if you come in at 10:55 you'll be given a noon band. Come in at 10:05, though, and you'll still get a noon band, so there tend to be more people coming in in the :05-:15 times.   One penny will get you public access to what you need to get clean. Three pennies will get you a private bath for the same amount of time. Five pennies will get you common room access, but also an attractive attendant to help you get clean. (There are more ladies than men, but any type of attendant can be requested.) Private rooms with an attendant start at ten pennies and go up based on what duties you want to have them perform. There are full service attendants at Sutan, but there aren't many so if it's a popular night you may have to wait for one to be available.   As with most bath houses, Sutan creates an incredible amount of steam. There are some vents running out the front of the building, but the majority of the steam is channeled upward. Above Sutan is an enormous greenhouse used to grow the majority of nobles' food, and they benefit immensely from the heat and steam of the baths. Above the greenhouses is temple housing, where they use the leftover heat and steam to reduce the need to heat such a big space in other ways.
