The White Woods

Throughout the forests of Galladia stand trees of enormous size and strength. These trees are called White Wood trees due to the ivory color of their bark, as well as the white blooms they produce. Today, these trees are exceedingly rare, but at one point in the past these trees stood in stands of 50-100. They were worshipped by people living in the forests of Galladia before the arrival of the missionaries. They would carve runes in the trees and would often cultivate the seed of the tree. When the missionaries did arrive, many of the worshippers of the White Woods converted to worshipping Tercior. However, some continued to worship the White Woods. When the Forefathers invaded the continent, they found these trees to be extremely valuable for their strong wood. They began chopping down these trees to build ships and large structures. The Worshippers of the trees attempted to stop them but were put down as rebels. This forced them to venture further and further into the woods to plant the seeds of their precious White Woods. It was also found that these trees can only reproduce with their own species, so the worshippers planted them in pairs. This often caused them to intertwine branches, unusual behavior for most trees. This continued until it was discovered by a professor at The Academy at Arbortrea that these trees were uniquely in tune with the Aura. All logging of the trees was halted, and many of the small towns that had developed along the White Wood River disappeared. Worship of these trees was continued under the new gods of the Forefathers as being the children of Tercior. The first leader of The Forests, Gallis, was instrumental in protecting these trees, and even bringing some of them to the capital that shared his name. These trees eventually became so strong that people constructed homes in their branches. Gallis was praised by the people of the forests for these acts and his name was forever tied to the forest surrounding Gallis and The Hollow.
