Magical Overexertion

Monsters use magic day in and day out, in order to live. Young children and infants rely on their parents' magic in order to keep their flow going, whereas teens start to make their own, and adults rely on no one unless ill.
Overexertion means they used their magic in a way that was unusual for their age or limits. In adults all it takes is some rest to get back to normal. In children it depends.
If the overexertion is only a little, a small uptake in magic from the parents is all that's needed. If however it is large enough they are unable to perform any magic of any kind, it becomes dangerous.
They have to go to the hospital and be practically swaddled in healing magic until they get up to a safe level.
