Glaciers of Kallea

90 years ago, this land was bountiful. Civilization blossomed along the Green River, the wilds were thick with trees, and adventurers kept the dangers of the world at bay. But then the snow began to fall.   An endless storm came from the sea, first with a light autumn s ow but quickly turning into a terrible, raging blizzard. People were trapped in their homes as the snow did not end. Food stores were lost, kings buried with their castles. All fled to the safety of the dwarven empire, but as the storm went on, they closed their doors.   Strict and harsh rule followed. Food was rationed out. Corrupt laws were upheld and work was forced upon nearly everyone. Criminals who refused to work were cast out with their families into the underground, a vast cave system filled with unspoken terrors.   Eventually, as food grew ever shorter, a ban on children was enforced . The elves and dwarves were okay, as they could wait until a solution came about. But humans did not live quite so long, and realized they would die before this ban was lifted. So the human refugees, along with a few other short lived races and sympathizers, struck out and rebelled, forcing the old empire into the caves.   Time passed, new food was discovered through underground crops, but life was still harsh and cramped. Then one day, a great thinker built a tower, and through it spread a great warming magic. The now glaciers melted away, and the land was reclaimed. Many flocked to the old towns and farms, while mages were gathered up to power the melting tower. Life began to change for the better.   Now, many years have passed. The green river now flows with new water. People live on the surface again, while those below are beginning to remake contact. Old forts and cities are being recovered, in the hopes of finding an answer to the storm. The underground is being explored further and further each day. Now is the time to adventure.
