Basic Information

Anatomy

These type of berries grow on vines that are frail yet dangerous. The vines are covered with sharp thorns and leaves that are neither alive or dead. When it is the time when the vines are flowering, the flower's color can be black or white which gives different results after the time of flowering. After that, it will start to grow berries that have a winter gray color near thorns around the vines.

Growth Rate & Stages

Since the vines of Sjöv Berries are weak it clutches anything nearby for support. After a few years, berries can now grow on the vines. While it takes four to five years for it to grow in the wilderness, it will only take a minimum of three and a half years if it is taken cared regularly. When it is the time between spring and summer flowers start to bloom, and the fruit starts to grow on the month of autumn.

Ecology and Habitats

Sjöv Berries optimal habitat is somewhere with cold temperature's and forests. The best place to find these berries are on boreal forests because of the cold temperature and trees that they can cling on. Even though the plant can survive without the cold, it can damage the plant, kill some shoots, and change the taste of the berries. In addition to that, raining may slow down the growth of the plant by a few days to a month.

Additional Information

Domestication

Sjöv Berries are cultivated around the southern continents each having their own twist of flavor. From the Vernal Continent the berries are more sweeter and when the fruit is overripe the sourness will become more mild which is why they are the best supplier of Sjöv Berry jams and sauce. The fruits from the Aumtial Continent are more alcoholic because the people from there likes wine, and they have found a way to make the berries ferment longer. The Onhjéon Conetinent uses all the parts from the plant from the roots for herbal tea to them using the plant as a barricade.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Sjöv Berries are best for jams, wine, and juice, it can be eaten as it is or make it into beverages. The berries could be pickled, dried, candied, baked, and cooked even if the fruit is unripe to overripe. It is the perfect fruit to snack on when the months are between autumn to winter. For the most part, it is primarily used for jams, sauce, and wine.
The berries have different unripe to overripe ratio that depends on how someone use the berries. For an example, when using Sjöv Berries for jams it is important to use the berries when it is starting to ripen because that is when it can taste a lot more sweet than before, but the berries needed to be overripe so when it is candied or dried it will taste sweet but the flavor will be balanced out by the sourness.
The leaves from the vines are used to make tea. When the leaves, flowers, or fruits are separated from the stem it will release an oily substance which is now used as an essential oil. The seeds are used as cooking oil in other places, and it is also used as a spice. Thorns from the vines are crushed into powder which created the Chronic Powder, while the powder can only give Lueitrum it will be chronic if touched regularly.
