Sorel Maxims
Sixth king of Throus.
History
Perhaps in response to his father's indifference to change, Sorel had high hopes when he became king in 975 E1. He quickly established another government body, the King's Line, a body of personal guards who would act as a final line of defense wherever the king goes. He thought that Eredal did not deserve his assassination, and it was concerning how easy it was to pull off.
Sorel was perhaps an antithesis to his father. In 976 E1 he began scaling up military and reinstating an economic focus on Throus' army. In 979 he declared war on Stana, starting the Second Stana War. Sorel was fairly nationalist, and similar to Eredal he believed that the Stanans were "barbarous crooks" (In the late 960s and early 970s, several Stanan nationalist groups pillaged Throusan towns near their border. After the Stana War in 915 E1, many Stanans moved to Throus in order to escape financial struggle in Stana. Many of them worked for low or even no wages in Throusan border villages, which many Stanans believed to be labor exploitation).

The Second Stana War ended in 984 E1 with Throus victorious. Sorel claimed the Stana foothills and some territory into the mountains, and began putting the local Stana population under slavery.
Sorel also commissioned large construction projects in the Res Mountains to strengthen the border between Stana and Throus. Expansive stone fortresses were created in the mountains and a lot of money went into managing and staffing them. Sorel saw proliferation of small defensive outposts and turrets along the whole of the border from 985 E1 to 1001 E1.
Sorel allegedly died from a stroke in 1004 E1.
