Elves

Often depicted as beings of grace and wisdom, elves were once found throughout all nations. Their forestry skill and magic allowed them to support themselves without the need for clearing and plowing land. They created rich settlements that respected the natural cycles and balances around them. As the other races grew and developed various industrial technologies, the elves retreated further and further from the shared world, eventually settling in Erndorai.

Lifestyle

Elves commonly leave Ernodrai after their first century, curious about the other humanoid races, but generally return to their ancestral home. Their long lifespans lead them to distain cultures reliant on regimented schedules and fleeting traditions. The few that stay in other countries are usually traders, bards, and sages. They are slow to make friends or enemies and even slower to forget them.   Elves prefer to live in small tribes throughout the forest of Torvelle. While elves visit other tribes, they remain closely connected to their home tribe throughout their life and often include their tribe when introducing themselves. Travel between tribes is commonplace. Elves are encouraged to develop a deep understanding of the role each tribe plays within the society.

Trade Goods and Exports

Elves are known to be master artisans and craftsman, favoring intentional quality over rushed mass-production. They are known for their intricate woodwork. They use forestry techniques that encourage the plants to grow into the items final shape allowing them to harvest furniture and tools like others harvest grapes. Their attentiveness to their natural surroundings allows them to export high quality lumber and other wood-based products while also caring for dying and overgrown trees. The lumber is often valued for arrows, wands, staffs, and other magical items.

Half-elves

Elves rarely acknowledge their half-elven relations. The limited half-elven lifespan is sited as a common justification for this ostracization. Elven elders claim this is done to protect the half-elf population from the pain of being surrounded by a culture whose elegance and longevity would be, for them, unobtainable.
