Verdun Proclamation

Political event

1700

The current dual monarchical structure of Elleryca is established, restoring sovereignty to the halfling Klemmuians, and elevating the status of Klemmu noblity and reflecting the already heavily integrating Kőztiri and Klemmu cultures.

The modern Ellerycan state is considered to begin with the start of the Livudi Dynasty in Zonlőt. Akos Livudi, newly ascended King of Elleryca, having been sent to live with the Klemmuian Court from a young age after his Meridan uncles had made threats against his life. The Klemmuian nobility had retained much of their privileges after conquest, and had long been clamouring for the restoration of their full autonomy in their own courts and fiefdoms.   While Kőztiri monarchs had always been rather lenient, allowing Klemmuian lords to continue to levy taxes, retain hereditary ranks and titles, and smaller, unimportant castles and fortifications. King Livudi changed this in the early months of his rule, restoring to Klemmu Nobility their "sovereign rule" and adding the would-be Klemmuian Queen to his court advisors. This angered some of the Kőztiri's own nobles, some of whom had always wanted all the spoils of their conquered Klemmuian lands, supplanting the Klemmu as the ruling elite.
