10th session

General Summary

The party retires for the rest of the day, and until morning. Tauflin peruses the book taken from the hidden alchemist’s chamber, and finds that it contains material about a special place in the Hool Marshes where Trevisian Helmont (his uncle) says the secret of immortality is hidden. The information was apparently given him by some local lizardfolk, who also said that the place is guarded by some draconic being. In addition, scrawls on the margins of the book reveal the fate of his marriage to Idonia Berkhead. She left him after he became obsessed with finding the secret, and never returned, so he died of grief (or maybe committed suicide). Then the five companions descend into the tunnels. They find nothing other than some green slime that falls on Kothar from the ceiling, some graffiti about gnolls and Saltmarsh women of ill repute, and broken casks of brandy. The smugglers seem to have taken the rest, and fled. An to the sea would allow someone to row off in a boat, or to climb up the cliff side to the mansion. The group returns to town, and finds themselves pursued by the town authorities. Kothar stays in the Scale and Tail to get drunk, while the rest of the group follows Adrie to the Council House to answer charges of kidnapping and sorcery.
