Monstro De Peludo Species in Genetic | World Anvil

Monstro De Peludo

Monstro De Peludo, so named due to the tentacles that hang down from its face like hair.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The creature has the head that looks like an octopus, with 3 long thick tentacles hanging down and hiding a hard curved beak. A solid neck connect the head to a set of sturdy shoulders that branch out into two long arms that end in 4 long talons. The shoulders top a snake-like body of solid muscle, running down into a long strong crocodile like tail.

Genetics and Reproduction

These creatures lay eggs in forests were banshees are present. Once a year, pods of Monstro De Peludo gather together and initiate the equivalent of a "snake ball" for mating. Females dig out mud nests, usually near banshee nests, and lay clutches of eggs. Females and males take turns hunting and protecting the nests, often following an elder female.

Growth Rate & Stages

Hatchlings are generally just smaller versions of the adults. It takes approximately five months for them to grow to full size. Monstro De Peludo adults tend to grow to colossal sizes, generally more than 50 feet. Females are bigger than males.

Ecology and Habitats

Monstro De Peludo tend to stay in forests with banshees, as they have formed a symbiotic relationship with them. They tend to stay close to bodies of water.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Monstro De Peludo generally hunt through the vibrations of their environments, shifting between scavenging the remains left by vampires or hunting the vampires themselves. Some members go into crypts to hunt vampires, but end up stuck in the crypts due to consuming too many vampires and growing too big.

Social Structure

Matriarchal

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They can speak, hear, and see normally, but due to their chimeric origins, these capabilities either age more rapidly than the rest of their bodies or are damaged through mutation. They tend to lean on their sensitivity to vibrations in their environment.    There are members of the species that speak to other sapient species, but they are few and far between.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

They have a symbiotic relationship with banshees. Banshees protect their nests from aerial predators while Monstro De Peludo protect their young from terrestrial predators.

Civilization and Culture

History

Originally a splicer project, two of the species survived and thrived until they broke out of the lab they were created in. They adapted well to Genetic's environment, eventually finding a lake to breed in.   They eventually happened upon a flock of banshees, forming a pact with the monsters that lasts til this day. The young would be raised together; banshees kept aerial predators away with their screams while peludo kept aquatic and terrestrial monsters at bay with their tentacles and beaks. As generations continued to be born, some peludo moved into crypts, areas now hidden by a city above.    These peludo learned to hunt vampires, dragging them into the murky depths of the gooey water. They are visited by all who use the crypt to travel and by the banshees who collect their eggs in order to respect their oath.
