Magic

When the gods created Gelathur, apart from creating the elements and the living beings, they also created magic. Magic is present is eveypart of Gelathur, no matter where you are, there is always magic present. The world itself generates magic, it emanates continuously and we call that the natural magic, its present in the air, but living beings cannot use it to cast spells directly from it because of the actions of Ufarion. Other type of magic is that magic that emanates from every living being, and we call it mana, this we are able to use, it requieres a natural ability, then it's just learning how to use it, and use it efficiently.

Manifestation

The manifestation of magic itself being it natural or mana is not visible to human or ennathian eyes. It is present, it can be sensed when you have learnt about and recieved proper education. There is an exception, which is when the magic condensates into magic stones be it by natural ocurrance or the working of mages to create an artificial magic stone.
Then mana and the magic stones can be use in order to cast spells, enchantments and to be able to use magical items or enchanted items. When it is use, the magic can be transformed into an emelent to create an attack or defense, but even though is transformed the caster has some control over what he created for a period of time,like for example make a magic proyectile change direction or dispell it, which can be elongated with the use of more magic. However the is a limit in control, if the magic casted is too far away from the caster, he will no loger have control over it.

Magic Schools

Magic is very complex, and to use it even more so. One person cannot learnt all magics, it can try but it will never be proficient in them to use them easily, it is not the same to turn mana into a fire or ice projectile than to make a projectile made of ligth magic. It is because of this differences that diferent schools were created, in order to group them in these categories to make easier it's study and use:

Elemental magic

• Fire element

• Earth element

• Water element

• Air element

Nature magic

Light and Dark magic

Enchantment and forging magic

Forbidden magics

Mages, Users and Nullers

Nullers

Even though everyone has magic, and emanates magic, not all can use it or has the ability to cast spells or enchantments. Around fifty to sixty of all the population are Nullers, these people cannot use magic, not in casting spells, not in using magic items, and cant use most of the enchaments of items or tools to help in the everyday tasks.

Users

Then are the Users, which made up almost the rest of the population around forty percent, these people are able to use magic items as well as enchanted, but are limited when it comes to casting spells, some users arent able to cast spells, but some others can cast lesser spells. These differences is the basis for a ranking system, First-rate users, Second-rate users and Low-rate users.
Low-rate users are able to enchantent items, but are not able to cast or use magic items. And even though they can use the items, they cannot modulate the use, so for example, image a sword that can emit light because of magic. Low-rate users can use the sword and the sword would emit the ligth, but they are not able to reduce the ammount of ligth emit or increase it. Other example is imagine a sword enchanted to be a flaming sword, when a low-rate users handle the weapon, it will always be on fire, they cannot stop the fire or increase the fire. This limits them of the use of certain or more specialized equipment as they cannot use them to the full extent.
Second-rate users are able to use magic and enchanted items, and well as being able to modulate the use fo those items, but they cannot cast magic spells.
And lastly First-rate users, are like Second rate users, and cast lesser magic spells.

Mages

The last and most powerfull are the Mages, they consist of about one to five per hundred to three hundred people. As well as with the users, the mages have some differences between each other, the main two are the magic output that each mage has, and the other is the ammount of mana they can have in storage at their disposal.
There are mages that will have a low storage of mana, but great output, so they can use small and lesser spells somewhat fast, while others have great storages of mana, but low output, allowing them to cast great and powerfull spells but then they have to spend time replenishing their mana. While each end of the spectrums can have it's advantages and disadvantages, a balance mage that can consistenly do spells for a longer periods is more desirable in some situations. Rarely the world of Gelathur has seen mages with both great output and mana reservoirs.
