"During the Fire Wars a some mispelled spells created a huge area of perpetual darkness around Haven. Sunlight or other sources of normal light cannot tear that barrier of obscurity which can be pierced only by magical means. From such event Haven has been known as The City of Eternal Night"It's a sheltered port protected by a huge fortress built into a rocky cliff.
Demographics
Some hill giants and ogres are welcomed in Haven, and are used for hard labours.
All residents of Haven have at least one tatoo that identifies them as inhabitants of the city or members of a pirate crew.
Smugglers, traders and other merchants are usually welcomed.
Government
The city is ruled by guild of thieves. The Three Ravens has a large influence there bit doesn't directly rule the city.

The city relies largely on mercenary companies, pirate ships.

A flock of gargoyles protects from airborne attacks.
A harbor chain manoveured by some hill giants can block the only entrance.
