Aether Gate

An ancient masterpiece of teleporting technology, created by Menorian Empire during its golden age. It can be summed up as a gateway that permanently links two locations together, allowing for an instanteous travel between them. It is different from Jumpgate and Teleporter in the way that not only it is essentially costless to use (not requiring an ounce of aether) but it also has no outer limit of capacity. It's only downside was the fact that its construction was heavily complicated and the cost of their instalation grew extremely together with the distance between two connected points.   It is however considered a Lost Technology, as the secret to their creation was lost together with entire population of Menoria. Only few techmaturgists with knowledge about them survived on Lana and in Imperium of Karadia, however even their combined knowledge wasn't enough to build a new one, with all attempts of doing it ending in disasters. Their knowledge remained, however, as there are two ancient families that dates back to the surviving techmaturgists, both tasked with maintenance of surviving Aether Gates.
Access & Availability
Today only two known Aether Gates remain operational. First connects Falon-nir, the imperial capital, with harbors on the coast of Native Sea, with almost a hundred kilometres distance between. Second is in Lana, and connects flying city of Kannae with the ground, merely a single kilometer apart. Both are absolutely crucial to continued existence of connected cities, both being a capitals of respective states (Falon-nir of Imperium of Karadia, while Kannae of Kannan Hegemony, because of which there no attempts to deconstruct them with learning the details of their construction in mind.
