Lucia Helder, wife of Commander Ignis Helder, first Chairman of Amarynth, co-founder of the Azure Council.   History books are filled to the brim with details about her life. Her victory over Queen Eril and Emperor Amuk at the young age of 22. Her marriage to Commander Ignis himself, cementing the ties between their nations, and setting the foundations upon which the Azure Council would prosper and grow.   Her cunning mind and progressive way of thinking has always been at the forefront of these tales, followed closely by her love life. Many scholars debate over her marriage with Ignis - one of political gain, or genuine love? - and many more argue over her rumoured affairs.

Personal history

Lucia was born to Riccardo and Amelia Caldera. Her parents were commoners living out their lives on the peaceful Amarynth Isle. Her early years were unbearably normal in Lucia's eyes and she longed for something more.   Her chance came when Garlan was almost plunged into an all out war.   Contrary to the opinions of Amarynth's lords and ladies, who would have preferred to stay out of the conflict between Queen Eril, Emperor Amuk, and the rest of Garlan, Lucia sought action. Not war, or to meet the Queen and Emperor with violence, but to try and seek peace instead. She followed the political and military changes of the other continents closely, asking every trader or sailor who passed through what they knew of the escalating conflict.   Eventually, in the later months of 1206 AS, word reached Lucia that Nione's rulers were the only ones still vying for a peaceful end to these tensions.   With this grave news, Lucia decided to take action. She bribed the captain of a passing trade ship to allow her aboard. The captain agreed to take the coin, and to take Lucia to Nione's docks, in exchange for her services in helping the crew over the 18 day journey. Although not proficient, nor particularly knowledgeable of how to sail, she caught on quickly.   When she arrived in Nione those 18 days later, she begged and pleaded with the people - lords and ladies of foreign lands, high ranking military officers, and even the common folk - on the off chance that one of them would be able to provided her with an audience with Nione's united leadership. A month after docking in Nione, her efforts payed off. She met Commander Ignis Helder, leader of the Elden region. He gave her the chance to speak, listening intently to her story and becoming more than impressed by her knowledge of the rising conflict and political stances. She had proven herself to him that day with the strength of her voice, her determination, and inspiring mind.   Commander Helder would be her way into Nione's upper classes. He would provide her with the opportunity no one else would - a chance to convince the only leadership left that hadn't given up that they didn't need to fight a war.   Lucia met with Nione's leaders in the final month of 1206. She told them of all the knowledge she had gathered, from the stances of the other continents leaders, to the troubles growing within Aeris itself. She gave them an idea that would eventually stop the war from truly beginning.   She knew of Nione's navel prowess. Lucia convinced the leaders that if they could blockade Aeris where it was weakest - it's common trade routes and military channels across the sea - then eventually Queen Eril and Emperor Amuk would have to admit defeat.
