Once full of life, now a part of the Deadman's Dunes in the northern stretch of Aeris. The forest of the dead is littered with thousands of rotting corpses.

The Dyvali forest was struck by a terrible curse - miscast by the elves who live in the spires perhaps? Or sundered by the fae, angry at mortals growing ever braver on their lands? No one truly knows the source of this curse, but everyone who has studied the forest of the dead knows and agrees on this:   The forest lures you in. If you're close enough to catch sight of a sparkling treat across the dunes, it is already too late.   You will walk until your feet bleed. Until the heat alone burns your skin, boils your blood. The stench of death and decay will fill your senses, choking you as you desperately gag for clean air your lungs will never feel again. There will be no relief. You'll walk until your muscles spasm beneath you. You'll crawl when your legs stop working.   You'll take your dying breaths atop the aging corpse of another, too foolish to turn away when you had the chance.

Geography

Flat plains covered in patches of dry, yellowing grass and cracked earth. To the north stands the Glacien Ridge, it's icy peaks a stark contrast to the almost desert like heat of the forest of the dead.   Little over a hundred years ago, the forest of the dead - then called the Dyvali Forest - was filled with flourishing trees, towering above the land at heights that rivaled the peaks of the Glacien Ridge.

Fauna & Flora

All manners of creatures lived in the Dyvali Forest, from tiniest fox to the largest stag, from wolves to falcons to eagles. There were even a couple of Elven spires that made their home in the forest before it fell to ruin.   Now, not even rats or vultures venture into the forest of the dead. Many are put off by the intense smell left from so many rotting corpses, others are dissuaded by the crisp air and damp heat. Once beautiful trees are twisted, their bark oozing a sickly green sap, branches bare of any sign of leaves. Where tree trunks were once metres thick, now they have shrunk and collapsed in on themselves - the largest trunk couldn't be anymore than a foot wide at present.
