Xucphra Corporation

Jutting up from the cluster of hives and warehouses was the tor. A massive single edifice of obsidian-like ferrocrete with accents of glass panels structured like crystals spires that caught the setting sun with blazes of light.   "That's it. That's the Xuc," the pilot informed his passenger with a tired sort of appreciation. He knew the view was impressive, but had long lost the ability to be affected by it.   As the airspeeder made a wide, slow pass overhead, following the instructions of the air controller to land on a pad on the back of the massive building. It was one of four landingpads suspended out over the worker district on massive, long columns. It gave one the impression of spinning plates balanced on sticks. Elegant balance and stability that lasts only as long as the plates spin fast enough.

Structure

Xucphra Corporation is led by a Chief Director, based on Thyferra, with subordinate Regional Directors managing refinement and distribution across the galaxy from a half dozen other systems.

Public Agenda

Xucphra is a pharmaceutical company at the forefront of restorative medicines. As a supplier of bacta it leads in treating trauma best suited to the priceless miracle drug.   It champions the causes of full-limb restoration and transplantation over bionic replacements. It cites the problems of cybernetics, especially cyborg detachment syndrome, and downplays that full-limb transplantation often requires lifelong treatments of bacta-related drugs.   In addition to being the exclusive supplier of bacta to the Empire itself, Xucphra also produces a number of unrelated pharmaceuticals for elite citizens. Ranging from mood-modification drugs to treatments for aesthetic surgeries and the like.

Assets

In addition to a near monopoly of one of the Empire's most limited commoditties, Xucphra boasts a generous planet-side security force on each of its primary supply and distribution planets. Each of its distribution capitals boasts several hundred security personnel and several dozen speeders and support vehicles.   On its headquarters of Thyferra, Xucphra assets include upwards of a thousand security personnel on the planet, with around a hundred speeders and shuttles dedicated to company business and peacekeeping within company towns.   Xucphra tradeships number in the thousands, supplying the galaxy with mid-to-bulk class freighters. These are often armed with defensive weaponry for fighting off poorly-equipped pirates or determined bacta-jumpers. For more formidable support, Xucphra employs private security firms and mercenaries. In the Jaso Sector, this includes the Commercial Combine Remnant.

History

Xucphra Corporation began as one of a dozen or so companies dealing with the Vratix in the production of bacta on Thyferra. At the time, the planet's supply and quality of bacta was throttled by the intense competition of the disparate bacta interests on the planet. Eventually an offworld security firm that had moved in to resolve a worker gang war between three bacta hives co-opted the hives' production facilities and Xucphra was born. With an emphasis on stability and steady production of trade-quality bacta, Xucphra became the dominant bacta firm by 900 BRS.   Xucphra's human-aligned agenda has always been a part of its operations, but it's a tenet that has greatly solidified over time. While relying on Vratix labor and cooperation in the production of bacta on Thyferra itself, Xucphra employs few non-humans outside of its headquarters, and those they do employ are kept in subordinate loops to ensure they never progress far compared to their human counterparts. This policy was writ large in the Stark Hyperspace War of 14 BRS, when Chief Director Adol Bel allied with the Stark Commercial Combine and Trade Federation to try to disrupt and control the galactic supply of bacta. Thought the effort failed and Director Bel was discredited and imprisoned until his death, Xucphra Corporation manage to escape the worst of the repercussions--especially the suggestion that Bel's control of the bacta supply was going to focus the shortage on non-human worlds.   More recently, the Xucphra Corporation has been sponsored by as one of only two cartels officially sanctioned to produce and distribute bacta. In 2 BRS, with the Clone Wars eating into the galactic supply of bacta for the GAR, Chancellor Palpatine granted the exclusivity to Xucphra and Zaltin, enabling them to consolidate production while giving the Republic Army the bulk of the proceeds. As of 30 GSC, Xucphra accounts for more than 60% of the bacta consumed by the Imperial forces.

Health unlimited. Prosperity unchecked. Xucphra unchallenged.

CCR has several outstanding contracts for Xucphra, but their methods are not widely appreciated within the Corporation.

The Ashern hate Xucphra and its employees more than any single group, and Xucphra has experienced more loss of life and materiel from them than any single source.
