In their first major policy change, the Kari-Ta that rose to power following the assassination declare all future laws and decisions will be independent of religious influence.
All three leaders of the Matari Clan are assassinated in Matagano. The identity of the assassin remains unknown to this day, but historians believe this was to bring the younger Matari women whom were more supportive of the Drakari-Ta to power.
