Horizon Observational Platform

What was once a simple scientific outpost evolved into a rather competitive trade location. While the amount of people living permanently on-station is rather low, visitors, for both trade and tourism, remains very high.

Government

While the laws of the Siathan Court remains entirely in force, all criminal matters are handled entirely off the station. Holding cell space is very limited, so prisoners are processed as quickly as possible, usually just in the form of a fine as the majority of crimes are illegal imports.   Taxation remains rather low for independent traders, owing to the government's promotion of independent traders during the time which the station was founded. However, corporations are charged a heavier amount to make up for this, leaving only the most profitable to stick around.

Defences

Owing to the scientific nature of the station, deep space sensors remain the only defensive option that is part of the station itself, allowing for advanced warning of oncoming threats.   However, due to the number of independent pilots frequenting the station, additional defense has rarely been requested owing to the importance of the station to independent trade.

Industry & Trade

The majority of export is in pure scientific data and samples, most of which are not of direct interest to the Siathan Court, but holds interest to private companies and individuals.   While the station itself is equipped to provide the basics for the permanent residents, luxuries as well as replacement equipment is always in high demand for importing, mostly by independent traders due to the high tax on businesses.

Infrastructure

Focused around an antimatter reactor, the original science wings are built in a circular shape around the reactor, allowing for optimal energy drain as well as monitoring of the antimatter process. Living quarters lay beyond, then hydroponics, although only enough to support the original one hundred members of the scientific crew.   Massive storage rooms were attached on later, as well as proper landing pads and docks for ships, rather than relying on individual people to ferry the goods across in zero gravity. Commercial hubs followed afterwards, reliable spots for people looking to buy, sell or trade goods. The final additions were luxury living quarters, funded and bought by tourism companies looking to capitalize on the closest station to a black hole that had the exiting infrastructure that they needed.
