Chanela's urbanized surface is the result of the planet's self-sufficiency followed by centuries of development during the scilence. Most of the planet's frigid terrain consists of skyscraper-deep concrete trenches that create a network below the planet's sea level. These trenches house the entirety of Chanela's seven-hundred-million inhabitants in addition to all the grow chambers, consumer facilities and industrial workplaces they need to get by.
The deep trenches of Chanela are also home to the Orsievellan Drydock, one of the Onyx Verge's four distinguished spaceyards that give them their astral military prowess. The Orsieavellan Drydock is a colossal facility that can construct any type of starship from scratch, even cruisers and flagships which cannot operate in atmospheric environments. To get these large ships into space, the facility uses the [Bardruther Accelerator], a two hundred kilometer long magnetic accelerator which propels larger ships onto a suborbital trajectory which the spacecraft will then circularize.
