Cira's Island

Melodie's first big adventure.

Melodie watched them row onto the island. The land beyond the strip of beige beach was a verdant green that climbed up into one jutting mountain on the opposite end of the island. Looking at the unexplored land sent a thrill through Melodie, but the excitement died when her gaze returned to the crew beginning to dig two holes.   Melodie marveled at the foreign plants around her. Obviously a city like Amaranth had very few trees and plants to speak of, but of what was in Melodie’s parent’s garden, none of the bushes were so bright green. None of the trees in Amaranth were so fat and rounded. Never before had she seen vines fuzzy with moss looped through tree branches – life on top of life on top of life.

Geography

Cira's Island has one prominent peak on the island that the rest of the island slopes to. Waterfalls and streams from 8 springs bring fresh water to the island. These waterfalls and streams can wipe out a flood plane during a severe rain storm. Galena (lead sulfide) and Malbolgite (Hutchinsonite: sulfosalt mineral of thallium, lead and arsenic) can be found in parts of rock faces that lack plants. A vein of gold has been dug up by the locals.

Fauna & Flora

Mundane tropical jungle flora of a wide variety exist on the island, as well as some magical/fey flora the deeper you travel and higher you travel on the peak.   Fauna on Cira's island include lots of tiny to medium tropical birds, with shades varying from yellow, orange, and bright green. There is a healthy level of amphibians and reptiles, but most distinct for island life is the variety of large mammals. There are 4 species of monkeys, with one larger species that is carnivorous. There are wild boars and large cats on the island as well.   Cira's Island is rife with all sorts of fey. Nixie, Sirens, Grasslings, Woodlings, Biloko, fairies, dryads and nymphs all exist here, plus many more. Some new fey that exist here are the Glitter Gluttons. They lust after beautiful minerals and guard it jealously, but you can drive them insane if you tell them you don't want them.

Natural Resources

Wood, fruit, herbal/medicinal plants, gold, lead, fertile land and exotic furs. Diemark would also consider the inhabitants as potential slave labor.
