Warstorm

The War Storm is a magical presence that first manifested itself to the northwest of the The Camoreyt Sea sea in 1925, and has since maintained a presence in Alderman's Woods on the southeast of Talioche.
On the night of its first manifestation, the final battle in the Thaumic Empire 's battle for expansion ended, with its massive fleet against the smaller but more advanced fleet from Brahalma. Though combat began under clear skies, clouds rapidly formed overhead as the naval war became more and more intense. By sunset, the all strategic cohesion of the two fleets was lost, and the battle became closer to a brawl than any military exercise. Soldiers on both sides would fight on even as lightning struck their ships, or as they drowned, still manning weapons and attempting boarding as both their and and their enemy's ships were drowned by the storm. By dawn, not a single ship escaped, and not a single soldier lived. The majority of the destroyed ships were hurled bodily onto the shores, coasts and beyond of Talioche as the storm flooded the shores.
Since then, there has often been a lingering grey cloud above the graveyard of ships, and the crews on them have risen up time and time again too continue their war against each other and against anything else that crosses through the area. The storm itself, bringing its hate and wrath, occasionally manifests above battlefields around the world, especially as night falls, bringing an intense and self destructive hate to those on the battlefield below.

Manifestation

The War Storm manifests itself as storm-clouds filled with crackling lightning. It can appear suddenly from clear skies, but is more common and more intense if there is already inclement weather in the area. While often bringing howling winds and stinging rain, it can also show as a dead calm, or a gentle drizzle with crackling thunder above. At its peak, red lightning laces the clouds of the storm and sends the warriors below into a frenzy, keeping them fighting as they die, and sometime beyond death.
When it does appear over places that were once battlefields, the corpses and sometimes spirits of the warriors that fought in it rise up, to either fight each other, or anyone else that has the misfortune to be nearby.
Occasionally, the warstorm will manifest living sparks of red lightning, that flyacross the battlefield encouraging bloodshed and shocking those who resist into death.

Localization

The Warstorm can appear above any battlefield, and any site of battle, but heavily favours ones where victory will be pyrrhic, or were any hope of surrender and negotiation has broken down.
The Warstorm seems to maintain a near constant but light presence above Alderman's Woods, preventing the dead from ever being truly killed.
