Lyerot
Lyerot is a condition caused by long term consumption of Green-ash. Notably, it is the result of chronic consumption in any form, and eventually appears in even the most careful users.
A fairly rare condition, as those with a green-ash addiction rarely live long enough for it too manifest, and those that consume carefully are usually careful enough to avoid this symptom.
Causes
Consumption of green-ash always results in negative side effects, with some methods of consumption resulting sooner rather than later. Lyerot is unique in that it will occur no matter what method is used, even the safest methods result in the sickness at about the same rate, usually after over 15 years of regular use, though later in some species.
The actual mechanic of the affliction is complex: it is a combination of the the body becoming overwhelmed by a buildup of the complex toxins found within Green-ash, and the body gaining some level of immunity too these toxins.
Most symptoms are caused by the wide ranging build up of toxins throughout the body, particularly in the bones, hair follicles, lymphatic system and liver.
The toxins build up in the lymphatic system give the person the distinctive scent and appearance that the disease is named after.

These are a list of the symptoms experienced by typical humanoids. The symptoms in those that differ from the "humanoid norm" have not been studied.
Physical Symptoms
Smell of lye on the breath and in open wounds. Shrunken tongue, lack of saliva. Loss of peripheral vision. Aching joints Anemia and poor wound clotting. Treatment is difficult, as is treating most diseases associated with Green-ash. Powerful healing magic has some effect, though multiple treatments are usually required to completely cleanse a person. The addiction to green-ash never fully abates, but is greatly lessened by this process.
For those without the extreme resources required to access such magic, a heavily acidic diet can mitigate the more obvious physical symptoms, and given long enough recovery is possible. A glass of lemon juice with every meal is about the recommended dosage.
