Fellboar

Fellboar, or troll boar are an unusual mutation of wild pig, found exclusively in Talioche. While similar to those wild animals simply grown to unusual size by magic, a fellboar has a variety of other traits that suggest greater random mutation or an intention to create a hybridised creature.   A trollboar walks on forearms, which resemble crude hands under a thin layer of fur. Their head is set back between the shoulders, and is less large and prominent than that of a regular bore it's size. On the head, a variety of teeth and tusks protrude crudely, rarely symmetrically, and gazzelle like horns protrude backwards. The rear legs, while less changed, also end in clawed feet rather than trotters.   The most significant change isn't visibile just by observation. A troll boar is capable of a rapidly healing from any wounds inflicted on it. Unlike the common troll, from which they get their name, limbs and body parts severed from a troll boar are don't remain mobile and aggressive. The core for regeneration seems to be the oversized heart, and anything severed away from it falls dead. When regenerating it's head, Fellboar don't regain memories from the previous head, or at least don't seem too. Much like a troll, their regeneration can be prevented by fire or acid, but Felloar are also vulnerable to extreme cold.   Fellboar integrate perfectly happily into a sounder of wild boar, much like their magically enlarged cousins, and it seems that a Fellboar can be born to any pigs in the Alila Plains. Fellboar themselves are sterile, but don't appear to age, and will survive until they are killed by external forces.     Fellboar are covered in the in universe book A Gentleman Hunter's Guide to the Allila Plains.

Basic Information

Anatomy

A pig like head, with muscled haired fore arms ending in claws. A relatively short body in relation to forearm size, and less deviant rear legs, resemblin an ordinary boars ending a combination of hoof and claw. A mess of horns, teeth and tusks protrude from the head.

Genetics and Reproduction

Troll boar are sterile, but can be born from any pigs in the Alila Plains. Division cloning does not produce multiple creatures. A troll boar piglet appears identical to an ordinary piglet until it reaches 10 months old.

Growth Rate & Stages

Trollboar mature at the same rate as their mundane creatures until they are about 10 months old, then they grow rapidly to their mature size over the course of about six days. The ordinary piglet features rapidly change, with bones reshaping themselves and additional claws and horns growing through skin. The growth appears to be painful and distressing.

Dietary Needs and Habits

While as omnivourous and oppurtuinistic as their mundane cousins, fellboar occasionally hunt, and have a preference for meat. Troll boar can starve to death, and appear to need signfigantly more food than their mundane relatives.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

It is possible that Trollboar are an intentional creation, a sort of pig that can be endlessly harvested for meat. If so, their creator is unknown.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Like their mundane relation, fellboar have an excellent sense of smell. Additionally, they have better night vision, and a distinctly brighter eyeshine when illuminated a night.
