Gaidria, a world steeped in the mixing lore of two lifetimes of love for fantasy and role playing.   Gaidira, Age of the Ancients: A world of thriving magic and experimentation where the various races indulged in the excesses of their breakthroughs. A world without the difficult struggle of survival and growing complacency. The ancients created a world of near perfection that sapped the strength, will and knowledge of its masses and left its fate in the hands of those stripped of the wisdom that the struggle to live provides. With great magic-amplifying obelisks set about the world, survival was trivial and all nations joined together in the harmonious glut created by their fore-bearers.   Gaidria, Age of the Fall: The cult of excess rose and rose, minds and bodies twisted by lives of extreme luxury and ignorance of what their ancestors had done. Despite the lavish lifestyles of the populations, the cult of excess promised more, for even in this time of great peace and near total prosperity, there was imperfection in everything. How to rid the people of the motes of imperfection that were left? If magic was the key to perfection, then surely the obelisks were the key to merging the world with the source of that perfection.   The cult of excess, manipulated by forces they did not understand, performed the Rite of Perfection and in turn, every source of water on Gaidria was obliterated. The obelisks cracked and shattered, destroyed by the sheer force of the Rite of Perfection, save one. Stripped of the obelisk's power and of the most necessary component of life, societies collapsed, war broke out and populations were annihilated. Whole civilizations vanished in a matter of weeks and strife was everywhere. Creatures of magic, of chaos, slipped into the material plane and wreaked havoc. Gaidria was doomed to death.   Gaidria's Last Chance: Delving into the ruins of ancient libraries which had not been used in centuries, brave adventurers and scholars sought to find a way to save the planet from the hell that the Rite of Perfection had created. Gathered around the last remaining obelisk, the dying civilizations placed their hope in one last great Rite, the Final Rite. A great island was floated into the air, a new satellite that would drift across the barren wasteland that was once Gaidira's glorious surface and upon that island would sit the Gate of Tollarie, a portal to the elemental plane of water.   The Cult of Excess, now reformed into the Cult of Perfection saw this as an unmaking of the perfection they had wrought, for only in total destruction, in annihilation could perfection be found and the last war of the ancestors was fought. The Cult of Perfection was defeated and the portal was opened. Water flooded back onto Gaidria, soaking the barren lands with life-giving sustenance once more.   Gaidria, Age of Strife: With only one obelisk left and water a scarce resource provided by only one new source, the lives of the people were harsh, brutal and short. Nations formed from the dust of the ancestors great civilization and warred with each other. The age of strife had begun but with it came a chance for the people to forge themselves into heroes and legends. Gaidria was no longer a paradise but the spoils of adventure lay before all. Gaidria was imperfect but like the rough surface of a stone, it would hone the skills, the minds and the bodies of the races once more.
