The Capital

a stable land in the midst of war

Ishmael was so full of himself he named his city ”Capital”, but no one has ever dared to challenge that choice. According to older texts, The Capital isn't the first Capital. There was one closer to the sea, but it was wiped off the map completely at least a thousand years ago.   The Capital has existed in a state of military-enforced peace. Many professions have been able to flourish under this peace, from Scholarly jobs like researchers and teachers to grunt work like construction. It it important to note that construction workers have done more repairs than building new structures   The military safety in The Capital isn't perfect. Many officials are harsh to their underlings, instilling a sense of fear in the place of loyalty. This leads to very angry and stressed men patrolling the city, creating a tense atmosphere whenever those specific guards arrive. Another creator of tension are the Keyholders of Ishmael. Having no other purpose for life than to carry out Ishmael's will, they've always caught even the smallest offense when they arrive.

Demographics

Most of the population could be considered "middle class" and allied with Ishmael. However, there are a few small groups within the Capital that side with Lu.

Government

it's a dictatorship run by Ishmael and his keyholders. In exchange for the peace given to them, the people are complacent with the strict laws set forth and enforced. Not that anyone who fights against him sticks around anyway, Ishmael is very strict about his peacekeeping, and handles it personally.

Defences

There is a thick brick wall surrounding the city, enchanted to protect from Malignants. Within the city are 5 military outposts in the form of towers, keeping a close watch over the city

Industry & Trade

Farmers from the western town of Ithaca often come in to do business, but most residents are soldiers, and those that aren't take up educational professions more than likely. Outside of those two things, there are a small number of people providing various other services.

Infrastructure

there is a network of telephones throughout the city, and water is pumped to the city from the northern body of water, which isn't saltwater

Assets

contains both Clare de Nunes and the Cafe of the Moon, favored restaurants for either side of the war. Within Ishmael's domain in the center of city are blacksmiths of the highest caliber creating weaponry for Ishmael's massive army

Architecture

Architecture In the Capital stalled at the Victorian era as many construction workers began to focus more on keeping what was there instead of improving it.

Geography

Most of the city has been leveled with stone, but in the residential district there are well-kept gardens

Natural Resources

over 2000 years, the natural resources that Ishmael blessed the land with became used up. Under where the city lays its foundation once was bountiful gems and metals. Now, if anyone managed to go down there, they'd find scant bits of metal, maybe a small amount of quartz. However, this has not slowed the war efforts, as Ishmael continues to create metals with his godly powers.

Maps

  • The Capital, Beacon of Ishmael
The only place in Gaia that could be considered Urban. The business district contains services of all kinds, and a public market for selling goods. The residential area is rather cramped, but also the only place plants grow freely within the city walls. The education district is the only place in Gaia to get a formal education. The Hall of justice is ruled by a Keyholder named Eve, a strict judge who understands very well Ishmael's intent in law.
If they're going into the hall of justice, they aren't coming out.-Arsene
In the center of town is the biggest military and government installation in Gaia. Within it is contained the best smiths and strategists, enough supplies to keep an army twice the size of the existing one, and it is the home of all Ishmael's Keyholders.
