Maelstromers (Male-strum-ers)

Maelstromers are a ethnicity of humans that call the Continent Maelstrom thier home. They are similar to Barbarians and northmen However they are much more developed in ways of traditions and honor. They call several northern cities thier home and are quite the hearty folk to be around in taverns.     These folk are survivors and are usually known to live off the land and as well as be fantastic hunters. Once you earn the respect of one,  you will have a friend for life.

Shared customary codes and values

It is custom to show valor and honor in combat. they are hearty fighters and are very wholesome when encountered. What could be seen as an insult by someone could very well be a word of praise from one of the people. Both women and men share equal footing as they are quite an egalitarian people by nature. The quickest way to earn ones' respect is to challenge them in a sparring match or in a game of strength.

Common Dress code

Maelstromers are quite a resorceful folk, as they are excellent leathersmiths and hunters. They prefer furs leathers and sometimes light armors as a common thing. They dress up in furs to keep warm during Maelstroms' unforgiving winters. Depite the technology that has touched them in these lands, they still lean towards a heavy traditional garb.

Art & Architecture

Most of Maelstrom's cities are cities of stone. The Maelstromers make for expert masons and metalworkers. Most of the ancient cities within Maelstrom are still standing with more than impressive stone constructs. Monuments have stood the test of time, and in this era of technology, the Great Northern cities of Maelstrom still prefer stonework and masonry to be constructed from.

Funerary and Memorial customs

There is an afetrlife that these folk beleive in. Death in battle is the most glorious way to go, However those who die of age, have also shown immense wisdom. They believe in a realm known as Altherheim as their final destination. where the greatest and most wisest of thier people have been rewarded with life eternal. To pass into Drinalis' realm, and be accepted into Altherheim they must be either buried in a great monument, or cremated by fire atop a funeral pyre. Fire is thier key to survival, and it shall lead them into the great beyond.
