History
The Au-Ra are natives to the cold and barren islands north of Veitniir. They claim to be descendendants of Bahamut himself and the mayority can be found in service to the Azarite Cohort. Those that left their home have come to be reffered to as Xaela Au-Ra. The Raen can be found on most continents living very rudimentary lives as nomads or in rare cases as merchants. Many of the Xaela end up taking up the sword for coin or hunt beasts for a living. While the have a reputation as being reliable and honorable, many Au-Ra faced persecution when they first arrived on Sundra and among the Free Cities on Minos. Largely due to their bestial appearence and their similarities with their sister race.
The ones that chose to integrate with the Cohort or remain withing their ancestral home are referred to as Raen. The Raen make out the bulk of the Cohorts more skilled mages and scholars, as well as their diplomats and spies. While the Xeala found themselves subjects of supsicion, the Raen quickly found their place in the world with their Champion and greatest representative guaranteeing them a place in the social order of Azurinthian rule.
