the Obsidian Castal
The castal was built to be the most imposing and impenetrable building in all of Gahena. Terin , who designed the castal , knew he had many enemys and was rightly paranoid . The castals defenses are of both the physical and arcain variety and are powered by a number of dark artifacts housed in the core of the castal. Physically the castal is surrounded by a moat in which is housed an eldritch abomination of nashing mouths and unending hunger, no one survives the moat period and the creature is unkillable. Attempting to access the castal from the sky results in smacking into a impenetrable barrier. Digging through the ground is also no an option as the castal is carved from pure obsidian from tallest turret to the deepest of its torture chambers and can not be penetrated. The only way in is through the front Gate draw bridge. on eather side of the road are two gargoyles , and to enter a member of the Demonicus family must deposit some of their blood into the mouth of one of the gargoyles, which will drop the draw bridge. The defenses continue on the inside the most effective and simplistic being the maze like layout of the castal so incredibly confusing that even the demons who grew up with this as their home will often get lost.
Purpose / Function
Home and strong hold of the Demonicuse Family from which they rule Gahena.
Alterations
the castle has had to grow in size along with the family, each new hall and wing adding to the intentionaly confuseing lay out and made it that much harder to get to the relics that give this place its defences.
Architecture
the castle has no set time period that the construction of the castle can be compared to but it seems a mixture of mid-evil europen and ancient chines. Elegence and Terror in equal parts , there are souls bound into the mirror polished walls hell fire in the chandeliers made from silver dipped bone , the giant pillars in the grand throne room are carved to look like souls bound and waiting punishment. The castle interior takes alot of notes from greek and roman architecture includeing a large indoor arena. As it is still used as home and government by the Democius family modern elements have been worked in with the ancient desinge , this is most odvius in the kitchen whitch marrys the cutting edge of cooking tec, and ancient tradistional methods.
History
This Castle was constructed at the start of Terins rule, in the rubble of the original castle constructed by the Devil , destroyed during Terins bloody take over and unification. The Obsidian castle was carved by the bound and enslaved souls of the most skilled artisans the mortal relm had to offer and has stood for eons , withstanding countless attacks by untold hordes who did not like the way Terin had forced his way into power. There has only ever been one instance of an intruder ever getting inside.
