Reimar Erhard

Brother Reimar Erhard

Reimar stood up from the cold ground and brushed himself off, making sure to pick up his fallen holy symbol, a metal form of Ildyr's sigil. He checked his surrounding, graciously finding that his gaze fell upon the familiar sight of the vast stretches of mountains in his homeland of Aldelgis. Reimar wasn't even bothered that only a few days ago he was in southern Heldrin along the border of Casarei, making this kind of trip to where he now stood was an impossible feat under normal circumstances. Though his circumstances as of late were somewhat unusual to make an understatement.   For only a few moments ago Reimar and his two new companions stood on a crumbling garden pathway deep underground fending off the barbaric attacks of a demon named Gist, all while attempting to dispell a curse laid upon the village they had found themselves in. Strange as it seems it was true nonetheless.   It was certainly a few very stressful days spent in that cursed castle dodging vile traps and vicious beasts. Though it was an effective way to become quickly familiar with his new companions, who had saved him from a band of goblins only a week ago. Unfortunately, Reimar's curiosity led them towards a strange howling coming from a large chasm within the cave the goblins dwelled in. A black chasm of hollow sound and darkness, it drew them in and deposited them on the doorway of a cursed village and the foreboding Castle Valtus.   Even more unbelievable than all that was that Castle Valtus now stood in ruins before him underneath the skyline of Aldelgis. Back to its original home, where it proudly stood for generations. Before the curse uprooted it all. "It seems we were successful in breaking the curse, sad to see it in ruins though," thought Reimar.   Reimar's thoughts were broken upon hearing the groans of his companions, who were now also shaking off the confusion of the sudden change of locale. He mouthed a quick prayer to Ildyr thanking him for protecting them in their recent travels. Suddenly his focus was broken by the shattering sound of hooves striking stone and earth, it was definitely coming towards them. "No rest for the weary it seems," Reimar sighed heavily as he picked up his mace from the ground.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Due to Reimars Clerical vestments, his physical appearances comes off as slight and somewhat slim. But due to his long tenure serving in the Aldelgian army, he is actually quite fit for a person of his age and profession.

Body Features

Reimar is slightly above average in height, standing a couple inches taller than most other Aldegian natives. He has lightly colored skin and has an athletic build due to his past in the military and his current adventuring profession.

Facial Features

He has piercing green eyes, short blonde hair, and sharp facials features, his skin is slightly pockmarked and scarred due to his light skin tone being exposed to the sun for long periods of time, though it is only noticeable upon inspection. He stays cleanly shaven as long as he is able to, though on long road trips his supplies sometimes don't allow him to stay so. Signs of age have begun to appear on Reimar's face, with wrinkles appearing around his eyelids.

Apparel & Accessories

Reimar typically wears the vestments of his deity Ildyr, a slim cut white and silver robe, with Ildyr's symbol stitched over the left breast. He wears this robe over navy pants and dark hiking boots designed for long travel. While his apparel is clerical in nature they do share some design comparisons with an Aldelgian military uniform, revealing Reimars past in the army.

Specialized Equipment

Reimar carries a custom staff that doubles as a two-handed mace, it is roughly four feet long and is topped with a large rounded metal sphere, engraved in the shaft is a symbol of Ildyr. The staff can also act as Reimar's holy symbol as it was anointed as a holy item before he left Aldelgis. Reimar also carries a small book of prayers that he reads from every night. He writes all of his sins and doubts in a small journal before carrying out these nightly prayers.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Reimar was born in a poor neighbourhood in the Crown City of Elric, he grew up poor and struggled to feed himself and his family. Because his father died in a military skirmish before he was born he never met him and was forced to help provide for his family at a young age.   After many years of hardship, Reimar was allowed to join a small parish in a nearby neighbourhood. The resident pastor was kind enough to provide Reimar and his family a small home behind the church where he preached. It was small, damp, and nearly falling over but the family cherished it and it became the first place that felt like real home to them.   As Reimar continued to grow so too did his faith, along with the teachings of Pastor Amann Reimar became a devout follower of Ildyr and would soon become a fully fledged priest. At the age of 20, Reimar would take over the church as it's head pastor once Pastor Amann became too old to hold the duties of the church.   Several years later Reimar was granted the title of Patriarch, a title given to only the most devout, a title gifted to him by the leaders of the faith of Ildyr. This title came with many responsibilities, no longer would he be allowed to stay at his small parish. This title made him responsible for all the devotees of Ildyr in the Crown City of Elric and all of Aldelgis. A guiding voice, a presiding judge, a father figure. His duty was to travel to each church, parish, place of worship and guide them in the ways of Ildyr no matter what.   During this time Reimar would be enlisted by the Aldelgis army to go out to various military posts to conduct sermons and guide the young soldiers. Because of this Reimar was given the same training as any soldier in the army, just in case any skirmishes or battles occurred will on the road or on site. And on occasion they did, the road could be a dangerous place, especially closer to the mountains. Reimar became more familiar with battle and conflict during his travels with the army and gained a lot of combat experience on the way. He was even given the title of Vicar Militia as a special honorific identifying him as an Aldelgian agent of the military.   After many years of service as a Patriarch and as Vicar Militia, gaining much praise and respect in both communities Reimar suddenly stepped down from both roles, even requesting he be stripped of his titles. Only those who granted the request, and Reimar himself, know exactly why he made this choice. Reimar would then leave The Empire of Aldelgis, a first for him, and begin life as a travelling cleric. Spreading the good word of Ildyr.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Reimar has many connections within the Church of Ildyr, primarily in The Crown City of Elric but he is typically able to find an ear that will listen to him in most cities in Aldelgis. Reimar also knows many people in the various arms of the military in Aldelgis and has many friends and associates from his time there. Though some former associates may view him negatively due to the circumstances of his departure.

Family Ties

Reimar has no direct relatives, and he has lost contact with most of his more distant family. Family is a sensitive topic for Reimar and he becomes quiet and uncomfortable when the subject is brought up.

Religious Views

Reimar is a cleric of Ildyr, the god of light. He is a very devout follower with strong convictions towards his deity. He becomes angered if anyone were to even hint at his loyalties to Ildyr. He believes that he is a vessel for Ildyrs words and that he must spread this word by seeking out those that are conflicted and pained and guiding them to new hope and prosperity.

Wealth & Financial state

Reimar does not have much physical wealth, most of his needs were met by either the parish or the military. Any extra money he did make typically went towards various parishes and charities. Reimar does have a small residence in the Crown City of Elric, it's a small home with only two rooms. It sits covered in vines in the shadow of a modest church in his home city of Elric. He hasn't been there in a long time and is unsure the church has kept it for him.   Reimar's principal possessions lie on his person, all else he cares little for and will give to others if he can.
