Jhidgros' Palace of Gold and More

A Place to Risk it All

Jhidgros’ Palace of Gold and More is a popular casino that sits alongside the Murky River in the Jungles of Mijhail. The palace, being a modestly sized building garishly decorated with gold fringes and a large sign adorned with the casino's name. It is a must-see destination for both locals and visitors to the region. Especially for those who enjoy high stakes games of chance and danger. You see, this place of chance offers visitors more than just the opportunity to win some gold. Chances are that some high stakes games may offer the opportunity to win much rarer items and possessions.   Jhidgros' has seen countless things gambled away at their establishment, including rare magic items, deeds to fortresses, and more! One legend commonly told at the casino, tells the story of a local war, where the tired combatants decided that the winner would be determined by whoever is victorious at a game of Uli'lang. A card game that involves a deck of card, a thimble of Mijhail rum, and four matches soaked in oil. Even locals are unsure of the rules. Each telling of the tale has a different winner coming out on top. Sadly though, regardless of who the victor is the loser still backstabs the winner during their jubilant celebration.
What's Played Here?
Many games are played in the casino, including various card games, dice games, and games of agility. Many of these games are locally famous, but a variety of popular games played in the casino originated in far off countries. Like the above mentioned Uli'lang game, though the rules for that game seem to change on a nightly basis.   Along with these more skill-based games are a selection of pure chance games operated by a number of dealers. One of these games works by betting on where a small ball will land after dropping it down a tiny replica of a wooden tower. Within the tower are a series of wooden knobs and pins, which spin and whack the ball in random directions before spitting it out through an empty bottom into a multi-grooved tray below. Each of these grooves has a different colour and value. The closer the ball is to the chosen value and number the more the player wins. On the flipside the farther away they are the more they lose to the dealer.
Who Runs It?
The casino is advertised as being in operation for generations, and while this is true technically speaking they actually mean goblin generations. The casino has been passed down in the Jhidgros family for several generations now. Three to be precise, and with the average age of a goblin being roughly twenty years old, that means that the casino has been in operation for roughly sixty years or so.   Most goblins live woefully short lives, wracked with violence, chaos, and gambling. The Palace of Gold and More is very much the same, it is a place of chaos, gambling, and often times violence. With races and peoples of all walks of life and status sauntering through the casino's grand doors in the hopes of making a bagful or two of coins, settle an extra special score or risk life and limb for a rare prize.

Rumours of Hidden Treasure
Though it is common knowledge that the casino has a large vault that holds an enormous amount of gold coins and gems, collected from the countless number of hapless gamblers that come through their doors. There has been a longstanding rumour that the establishment has a much larger, much more heavily secured vault, hidden deep below the casino's gaming floor. This legendary vault is said to hold highly valuable and priceless artifacts, which includes an even greater horde of coins, rare art pieces, and highly enchanted magic items. All having been collected from a variety of powerful and rich clientele who have 'donated' their prized possessions to the casino's vault after a night of extreme gambling.
Security
A large security team is constantly patrolling the various tables, games, and rooms of The Palace of Gold and More. This security team consists of a team of highly trained fighters, many of which were former adventurers, now retired but still looking for an exciting career. This team is in constant communication with each other, using magically enchanted communication items to stay in contact with each other. These small devices look like simple small and round discs made out of polished stone, they easily fit in the palm of an average humanoid hand.

Rules
For an establishment known for its chaos and violence, a strict set of rules is enforced to all visitors. General rules of conduct include treating your fellow gamblers with respect, not prying into a fellow patron's personal business or life unless personally invited to, only start a physical confrontation if absolutely necessary and to please take it outside the gaming area, and of course, absolutely no cheating is allowed.   If anyone is caught cheating, however, their earnings are immediately confiscated and the individual is escorted out of the premises. The offending individual is then banned from reentry until a heavy fee is paid by the cheater. This fee is determined by the severity of the amount won via cheating. If however, a major altercation occurs the offending party may be taken directly in front of the Jhidgros family on the casino's upper floors. These occurrences are rare and they typically do not end favourably for the offending individual's health.
