Eeavarin - Goddess of the Forge

A Divine Encounter

He could hear the sharp ringing of a hammer upon steel echoing down the dark hall they found themselves in. It had been a long journey, fleeing the city, travelling across a violent ocean, past shivering tundra, and through dank mountain caves. Not to mention the literal God of Deaths attempts at thwarting their progress. Finally, they found themselves at the entrance of her forge.   As they approached, he felt a blast of heat striking his face, he squinted and raised his hand to shield his eyes. As he stepped through the final portal to her chambers he lowered his hand with caution and dared a glance. Any discomfort or fear he may have felt in that moment were completely dispelled as she turned to face them.   Eeavarin. Glorious and divine, her auburn hair and golden skin glistening with effort as she ceased her work and placed her hammer down upon her anvil. She smiled sweetly, her divine forge roaring behind her, "You and your friends have journeyed long, it is time to rest. Let me care for you."
A common prayer used by followers of Eeavarin

Grace our Souls with Fire - A Prayer to Eeavarin

Far away, her hammer rings   Upon her anvil, wrought steel, stoked hot from her breathe   Let her forge be ever lit, for it guides us in the cold and the dark   Let the coals be stoked hot, and passionately imbued with her care   Far away, her hammer rings   We pray upon these flames, pray that she cast their wisdom upon us   May her flames chase the coldest winds and darkest nights away   Enlighten our minds with divine inspiration and guide our hands towards inspired creation   Far away, her hammer rings   May her forge never die, for its flame is our heart. Flickering to the beat of her hammers blows.   Grace our souls with fire, may your fire grant us life   Far away, her hammer rings

Common Views of Eeavarin

Eeavarin is one of the most beloved of the divine, rivalled only by Ildyr, The God of Justice and Light. Those that worship her follow her creed of passion and creation, striving to emulate her will by forging their own unique paths in life. Common amongst her followers are blacksmiths, artisans, and builders. Though many more pray to her daily due to her divine role in creating the lands upon which the citizens of Fyria live.   The Goddess of the Forge is widely known as a benevolent god, one who has great care for the people of Fyria. She created the mountains and the lands beneath, she breathed life into the first living beings of Fyria using the spitting flames of her coal fed forge. Her devote say that she cares for the lands and its people as if it were the flames of her forge. Stoking the coals that feed us, ensuring our flames stay bright and full of life.
A common theme amongst her followers is the journey of self-sacrifice in the pursuit of one's greatest creation. To some, this may seem vague or even conceited to those who misinterpret her words. For those of her own, it means to give unto yourself and be not afraid to follow a perilous path towards what could be their finest achievement.   The phrase could mean so much to so many. For a lowly blacksmith, it could be withstanding the fires of his forge, physical pain and exhaustion in his tasks to create his crowning masterpiece. Or an adventurer putting his life on the line trekking up the frozen peaks of The Gilded Mountains in search of answers to a forgotten story long lost. Or a mother, who is determined to protect her child, sacrificing her own safety and comfort no matter what, to ensure her child's future.

Lighting the Forge - Crafting the World
With a gloved hand, she reached into a realm of chaos and unfathomable energy, from it she pulled a spark. A life-giving piece of cascading colour and power. An Ether of Life. With it, in her hand, she turned towards her darkened forge and blew gently. The spark spreading forward, calmly spiralling into the structure ahead, nestling itself between the unlit coals that rested on the floor of her forge. She waited, only a hint of concern showing in her eyes.   Then, a sudden crack and puff of light and smoke. Within moments crackling iridescent flames emerged from the suddenly red hot coals, filled with potential life and opportunity. This would be what she would use to craft the world they sought. The coals of her forge would heat and allow her to shape the world with her hammer and anvil. The flames of her forge would give the residents of this new world life and ceaseless passion. Her work was just beginning. May her forge never quiet.

World Creation Myth
The above is only one telling of Fyria's creation by the hands of The Goddess of the Forge, Eeavarin. Many similar texts exist across the land, though one commonality is the role in which Eeavarin had in breathing life into the lands and peoples of Fyria. Many believe, that Eeavarin harnessed the mysterious and chaotic energies of Ether to light and power her forge. Ether is a powerful energy that seeps into Fyria from an endless realm that sits in between reality and the beyond.   Using this power, she would strike the unshapen earth and form the mountains, valleys, and fertile soils that all creatures would come to call home. Though she used this power to create much of what the people of Fyria see, it is generally accepted that her sister goddess Lathos is the one responsible for filling the seas and drawing upon the lands its rivers and lakes.   Many say her work is still not yet done, and that the world is still in a misshapen state that requires constant working from the skilled hands of the goddess. Others believe that her forge has breathed life into countless worlds and that Fyria is only one of such worlds. Equating Eeavarin to a blacksmith, who crafts thousands of swords in their quest to smith the perfect blade.

Physical Appearance

Eeavarin, like all the gods, is neither male nor female, she and the rest of the divine take on whatever form they wish to and are depicted differently throughout time. Currently, however, Eeavarin identifies as female, she has an athletic build, long braided auburn hair, and deeply tanned skin. One depiction, however, that has not changed throughout history is her Gold and Amber colour eyes, piercing, and unwavering in conviction.   Eeavarin, currently, does not wear anything exceptional, in fact, she prefers the garb of a simple blacksmith. Tan woollen pants tucked into large dark hide boots, and a thick wool shirt with a well-worn leather apron draped overtop. Her apron is emblazoned with her symbol, a hammer and lit forge. Stories have been told that she has on occasion worn a light summer dress in the rare moments in which she is not in her forge. Though none can confirm this convincingly.   In the past Eeavarin has been depicted as a stout dwarven man with a short auburn mohawk, long wiry beard, and a deeply furrowed brow. During this time Eeavarin's form was commonly shown to have intricate tattoos that wound up and down both of his arms. Though this form was long ago and most depictions have been lost to time.

Divine Goals

Eeavarin's main goal is for the people and creatures of Fyria to live up to their greatest potential and seek out and live for their desired passion. She wishes for people to create and add to the world she has gifted them. Whether that be for the formation of a new potentially great city, the creation of a masterpiece painting, or the raising of a child who may, in turn, become the greatest hero of their generation. Eeavarin wants to see growth, passion, and resolute action.   Though she cares for most of the people that walk her lands, she has in the past taken interest in specific individuals. Granting them boons, and even visiting them on occasion. Stoking the fire within their souls in the hopes that her influence will lead them towards the greatness she sees for them.   Like any good blacksmith, she strives to create increasingly elaborate and wondrous things. And though she has taken much time and passion into creating the world of Fyria she still does take the time craft divine items of magical splendour. In fact, some of these splendours have found their way to the realm she presides over. One such treasure is the highly sought after Veil of the Golden Pass. A powerful artifact that is said to allow its wearer the ability to commune with the gods, some say it may even lead those that are worthy towards the realm of the gods and Eeavarin herself.

Okay forgive my words but HOLY FUCKING FUCK. THIS ARTICLE IS A MASTERPIECE. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE FORMATTING, ARTWORK, WRITING, PRODE, WORLDBUILDING , CONTENT AND EVERYTHING. This truly was such an amazing article to read! I loved it!   1) First off, the poem and the quote at first was what immediately hooked me. Normally, I’d have said that a well written quote was enough but holy hell, this one made my head spin around the entire solar system due to how amazing and hooking it was! I can’t believe how amazingly you’ve managed to hook me into this!   Secondly, the way you portray this deity is beautiful! I’d say this is one of the, if not the best article about a Deity I’ve ever read! It’s simply just that beautiful! The formatting, layout, content etc combined with the artwork was just beautiful!   Other than that, the only question I had now was about the followers of Eeavarin. What are some of their traditions , rituals and festivals? What does Eeavarin think of them? Again this is an amazing article and I’d have left a far better comment if I wasn’t sleepy and hungry but you still did an amazing job man! Congrats and keep up the amazing work! Hope you’ll rock the stage during SC!

Hey man, sorry for taking so long to reply. Your comment kind of got lost, still getting used to the new notification system. Thanks a lot! Your comment means a lot to me. This is quite a special character for me. She was a pretty big focus in a campaign I ran with my friends and was really one of the first major aspects of my world I fleshed out.   I really never thought I'd write poems and prayers for deities since I am not really religious but turns out I really enjoy writing religion-themed characters and places. I have a couple of other examples that are similar in my world. Like the God of the Dead Keldrin and his people's home Keldavor. Or Aldelgis is a very religious nation as well.   I still have a lot to add to this deity and her mythos, a few tidbits can be found in other articles that are attached to this one. But I am hoping to add more as time goes on. I enjoy writing flawed characters, and I think having flawed deities is interesting as well. I think there is a lot that her followers don't know about her and especially her relationship with the other deities. Her purpose is to build and to foster passion and potential. If she sees her followers following in that path than she is happy, she doesn't need to honoured or celebrated with festivals and rituals in her eyes. Though she does appreciate prayers and kind words in her favour, as that is what gives the gods strength.   Good luck with the Summer Camp, I am plugging away so far. It is difficult to juggle work, social responsibilities and producing decent writing. But lets all just do our best!
