Ursus Claw

The first Founding Document that forged the Kingdom of Furlancia was scrawled on vellum by the Claw of Ursus. Ursus' rugged hands may first have established dominance through strength but the great Bear had a vision of a Kingdom unlike any yet seen. And so he set his hands to something more. With the claw of his right forefinger he wrote the first founding laws of Furlancia reflecting his vision for what such a kingdom would stand for. He declared to all those that were present that henceforth, only the claw of his right forefinger would set forth the law of the land. For many years his claw dipped in ink signed all the decrees that went forth through the land.
As time passed, his vision for the new Kingdom of Furlancia diverged from those he ruled. In the end it was the Wolves who led the rebellion that toppled the great Ursus. When the Wolves' Matriarch took the throne with the mighty Grizzly bowed before her she smiled, "Fear not, as you declared, your claw shall continue to set forth the laws of the Kingdom". With that, the wolves held his hand before him and with a great pair of tongs, removed the claw from his right forefinger.
The claw was then fashioned into an finely crafted pen. Beautiful sliver filigree held the extraordinary claw in place at the end of simple black enamel shaft. From that day onward it is this instrument of writing that signs off on all passage of law or royal decrees in the Kingdom of Furlancia. One thing that surprised many of the court was that after its crafting, when Ursus was shown the piece he smiled at the Matriarch. As he intended, no matter what it will always be the claw that will lead the future of this great kingdom. None will ever forget its founding and whose strength it was that united so many.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Similar to a writing quill. The claw has been given a small slit and shaped to a point that makes it infinitely more legible than when the old bear scrawled the laws from his own paw.
