Sola
Sola (a.k.a. The Light)
Sola is the light after the storm, daybreak after a long winter's night. The eldest of Llondel and Kelara, Sola is the fruit of a new and hopeful relationship after Kelara's year to say goodbye to her previous husband. Sola is a near-blinding beauty, who shimmers even in darkness. Her parents have long since given up on keeping her out of the mortal lands, where she appears in the middle of festivals. She especially loves the spring equinox and will dance and sing, inspiring joy.

Personal history
Sola appeared on the edge of the coastal town of Basar on the autumn equinox in the year 363. It had been hundreds of years since Sola’s worship had been banned in Basar, as it had been in all of Kenta. But it was not against the law to dance. Hearing the festival music from the lively market along the docks, Sola kicked off her shoes and gave the beaded slippers to a child begging on the edge of the market. The slippers shrunk to fit the girl’s feet.
Sola danced her way along the docks, smelling spices, fry bread, and warm bodies. As she passed by the local Kenta people, their moods rose. Lovers’ quarrels quieted and arguments were forgotten. People began to watch, marveling in Sola’s joy and grace.
A militiaman recognized Sola for the shining goddess she was and blew his horn, sending up a call to the city guard. Swordsmen weaved their way into the crowd and archers marched onto the palisades.
The beggar girl with Sola’s slippers called out to Sola, “Run!”
Sola spun to see the guard closing in on three sides and ran for the nearest pier, calling out for help. At the end of the pier, she leapt into the air and transformed into an albatross.
The archers pulled back on their arrows, preparing to fire. The massive form of Aristor the Wavebringer rose from the sea, blocking the archers’ view. A wave crashed against the docks, sending the locals fleeing up onto the hillside terraces. Aristor roared and the archers stiffened and froze in place. Every archer with a nocked arrow transformed into a coral statue.
The Wavebringer yelled at the people of Basar, “You will not harm my granddaughter, or you will have none of your own.” He sent one more massive wave against the shore, crashing into the ships and docks, flooding the market.
Sola flew out to sea, tears falling from her albatross eyes. The tears hit the saltwater and became blue mussels.
