The Fall of Brudenia Document in Freyna | World Anvil

The Fall of Brudenia

"The Fall of Brudenia" has come to be one of the rarest paintings throughout all of Freyna, since only 1 copy of the painting exists. Many have tried to replicate this particular piece but the magic coursing through the painting prevents such actions from happening. To this day, the magic remains unknown and has bested the best wizards Freyna has to offer.

The Painting

The painting itself is of the long lost civiliation, "Brudenia", one of the great empires who mysteriously disappeared out of the history books, leaving almost no evidence it ever existed behind. The discovery of this painting made waves around the world since it was the first time Brudenia had ever been seen, and was nothing like anyone had ever imagined.

Despite existing long before the modern world, Brudenia's technology was way ahead of its time, and existed as a floating, mobile kingdom.

The Fall of Brudenia depicted the floating kingdom under attack by massive dragons swirling all around it, and tilting the kingdom's course toward a blackened mountain. From the kingdom, giant chains were being launched towards both the dragons and the nearby mountains, in attempt to discourage the attack but also to divert their trajectory away from the mountain.

Mainy have guessed what mountains are being depicted in the painting but to this day, no ones been able to find any signs of the Brudenia's crash landing, or where it may of made its final descent.

Current Location

The location of the painting is currently unknown. The last known owner was the famous Gnome Art collector, Tenkavick Smudbom, who reported being robbed while travelling back home over 70 years ago. There are many speculations that he still has it and in fact fabricated the story in an attempt to avoid being targetted by other collectors and thieves. However, there's currently no evidence to support that speculation and is still heavily denied by other members of the family to this day

Inflated Value

The painting's value skyrocketed after the discovery of a royal sword that contained same symbol seen in the painting, proving the empire's existence once and for all.

The sword's discovery re-ignited interest to find the long lost empire and continues to be one of the great mysteries of the land.
