Pits of Crackenmaw
At the age of 16, the Florelan males will go through a test of might where they will be thrown into the Pits of Crackenmaw to fight with a crocodilian Ashseeker. They will have to fight with the creature before they are ready to leave their village or they will have to wait for another year to fight in the Pits of Crackenmaw. Sometimes accidents may happen, so there is no surprise if there are more than one Ashseeker.
History
The tradition of crocodilian wrestling has passed for generations in Floreale. It was only in recent years in Era 4 that the act of violence towards animals are appalled by the Elders.
During the early establishment of Floreale, the Elders were extremely wary of the outside world and feared that their people cannot fare with the change and survive. The demands from young Florelans to explore the rest of Frantumare forced the Elders to comply. However, they came up with a method to determine whether they are ready to leave or not, which is through fighting crocodilian animals. Crocodilians are chosen due to their resilience and long lasting life.
When the use of the animals are questioned, they decided to change it into a similar form of creature but as an Ashseeker. The gist of the ritual is similar; battling the creature to death to determine their maturity and survivability.
Execution
16 year old male Florelans will be brought to the Pits of Crackenmaw to battle with Ashseekers. They will chose their own weapons or fight the creature barehanded in the pits. Once inside, they cannot escape unless they are dead or the Ashseeker is defeated. If they are infected with Ashen Blight, they will be left to be turned and the next Florelan will have to battle their brothers.
