Church of Ash

Prior to Frantumare's pantheons, the Church of Ash was once the only known religion in the old world, Maerus, after the Old Kingdom of Laevenon laid waste by The Ashen Born. The religion was founded by refugees of the kingdom and since then, the living god was worshipped diligently.

Pay cruelty with another cruelty was what The Ashen Born once said, or at least, that was what the Ashen Priests claimed. The Ashen Born does not implore the use of emotions when it comes to living. They emphasize on apathy, and only kill if the other person truly deserves it. However, The Ashen Born does not condemn anyone who refuse to indulge themselves in worldly pleasures or love, believing those are the sources of weaknesses that destroys humanity. Stories of the Ashen Born circulates in Maerus of their travel and preach, though the priests do not see the god to be a preacher. The living god's only purpose was to erase, which was what they had been doing indiscriminately. This extends to the Ashen Born's followers, using their reason to kill to justify destruction towards another human being. Eventually, the Ashen Believers embraced the concept of apathy and seeing a human with emotions as weak.

Cosmological Views

Do you honestly believe the birds are truly free when they fly? That those wings brought them freedom? No. The wings and flight only make them realize how big this cage you called the world.

The Church of Ash sees the world as a cage, restricting every development for everyone in the world. They could not leave the world, fearing of being lost in the Void or die trying. The world continue to oppress the people, reducing them to primal beings and die from suffocation of the confinement. The Ashen Believers thought that The Ashen Born tried to liberate them from this oppression. To liberate them from the grasps of the so-called kind gods of Lys, but their powers were greater than the Ashen Born, making the living god as cursed as the people. The church expresses their hatred towards the Lys, and they understood that the "cage" is a cruel creation by the Lys to confine the humans.
