Fragmented Lands

The world has been fragmented due a disaster several millennial ago fragmenting the land. The hubworld is the main continent, a more or less circular, flat landmass host to a pleathera of biomes, flora, fauna and wonders beyond the imagination. The land in the hub is so deep that one cannot imagine breaking through to the other side, as the rocks gain density and become impossible to mine at any reasonable passe. Around this hub, there are what is known as the Fragmented Lands, an extending mass of islands bordering the mainland. And the further out from the hub, the stranger things become. This land, The disjointed clustered floating islands known as the Fragmented lands is where our story begins. No one know's what cause this mass destruction, this cataclysm. An event so strong to break appart an entire land is almost unimmaginable. However land is still around. This even was one of birth and death. The islands are held up, what's upwards, know one yet knows, whats undernieth? Well many have known, only that no contact, no information has been recovered, even the strongest spells, or simplest mores code based communication system could pass any bit of knowledge.   How they stay afloat? maybe They float on the magic itself. Maybe There is ore underneith holding pushing it up. the will of air elementals? many theory, no answers. Yet it is the age of discovery. What will this eras hero's adventurers and scolars find record and create? that isnt up to me. I, I am just an archivist.
