Bullet Fever

"Being sent to the countryside only helped some of the problems I've been having. This trauma started from the border way back when. Gunfire surrounding me in all directions with only dead peers and tight walls surrounding me; it's horrifyingly surreal. These feelings of anxiety and helplessness from the fighting stay with me to this day. Nothing is louder than a gunshot mixed with the screams and clashing of metal from your men. The feeling of drained hope as time seems to slow down when the bullet zooms toward you, an unstoppable force. The bullet aimed and meant for me zooms past as an "ack" can be heard behind me. Experiences like these haunt me to this day via episodes of delusional flashbacks. The ringing in my ears also survive to this day, but that's just a minor annoyance compared to the flashbacks. Now I reside here in the country, closer to the border that spawned these delusions. At least it is very calm here with the rolling hills and peaceful sunsets." - Alfred Power
