Breath Holder

Career

Qualifications

Breath Holding

Before a fisherperson can take their first dive, they must subject themselves several difficult deep breathing exercises at the top of skinny poles on land. This can take years of practice.

Other Benefits

Recogition

While there is little financial gain in this job, the collective coastline communities recognise the skill and endurance needed to return dive after dive. However, it is much easier to catch fish closer to the shores or the mountain river, so they are unable to meet the demands for seafood by themselves.   Occassionally, a breath holder would bring a specimen to the surface that attracts particular worth.

An elite deep sea fisherman who hunts for large fish, crustations and squids with a spear, at great personal risk and modest reward.

Only certain brave souls on the coastal people living on Hayaqiago would consider pursuing such a dangerous job.
