For Want of a Musketball

"Heh, guess his sides weren't made of iron after all." -George Goring     For Want of a Musketball is an alternate history timeline diverging from our own on July 2 1644, when Lieutenant-General of the Horse and member for Cambridge, Oliver Cromwell, dies at the Battle of Marston Moore. In the longer, bloodier and more truly British civil war that follows, the democratic Levellers will carve out a constitutional revolution with help from unlikely allies, women will preach a gospel of equality in the streets of London, and the presses will run hotter than ever before with new theological and economic debate. For Want of a Musketball aims to present a plausible, well rounded alternative history that is, though not without hardships and atrocities, more optimistic than our own.
