Aesegull and Kosta, Magnetism and Effort
Most know that Odin and Jord, Goddess of the Earth begot Thor, God of Thunder, the first of Odin's sons. But most do not know of Jord's second son and their first daughter, fathered this time by Brokkr, Dwarf Master of Smithing, Aesegull, God of Magnetism, and his sister Kosta, Godess of Effort.
Aesegull spent his days learning from his Dwarven father Brokkr about the ways of the metals and smithing. He became trained in the metals, and could bypass the distractions of changing hands from tong to hammer by learning to pull the tongs and hammer from across the room with only his desire. The gods were very impressed by this and he became known as the Magnet of the Aesir.
His sister, Kosta, did not work with metal or the earth. She only wanted to be free and run. Kosta spent her days running so far from her family that she became known for her effort. She would run all day until she had to rest, then she would lay in Aesegull's arms and sleep. One day she ran so hard she slept and did not wake from Aesegull's embrace.
Brokkr, their father, decided enough rest was enough and went to pull them apart. He tried and tried with his great dwarf strength and could not. Then he asked for the help of the Aesir including his wife Jord, the Earth. None could separate the siblings, until the god Loki, God of Mischeif had an idea.
Loki turned into a goose goose and tickled Kosta's feet with his feathers until she writhed and turned around. When she did so, she shot with great force away from Aesegull. It was known then that the siblings could not be near each other, unless Kosta rested, facing Aesegull and they embraced, or Kosta turned and ran with great force until she tired and turned to her brother once more.
She became known as Effort and together with her brother the Magnet of the Aesir the two pushed and pulled and chased and rested in an ebb and flow which continues today.
