Jung Hoseok was born on February 18, 1994 in Gwangju, South Korea. He grew up teaching himself magic in secret. His mother scorned him for being a mage and often complained about him being too much like his father. His family moved to Seoul just before he started high school, and he made quick friends with
Kim Namjoon, who was in his class. In his last year of high school he joined Bulletproof Guardian Security after Namjoon told him about it. They got an apartment together after graduating school.
