Ettercap
Basic Information
Anatomy
Ettercaps are bipedal creatures with a hard exoskeleton shell covering the entirety of its back, head and chest. The fleshy belly is exposed, underneath which lies a thinly line sac that produces and stores an ettercap's venom. The creatures have two long, armored arms that end in pincer like claws. They have a hunched stature, with their shoulders aligned with, or sometimes raised above their head. They have six eyes and large mandibles, from the ends of which they are able to inject or spit venom.
Genetics and Reproduction
An adult ettercap will lay anywhere between one and three eggs in their lifetime, which take half a year to hatch under the right conditions.
Growth Rate & Stages
In its larvae stage, directly after hatching, an ettercap is relatively harmless. it will crawl around in dark areas or underground and eat insects until it grows to adolescence. This stage will last approx. 2 years.
An adolescent ettercap will eat either insects or meat, depending on what is available to it. It is during this time that the hard shell grows over its back and around its chest and head. This stage will last approx. 5 years.
An adult ettercap will eat meat from any source. Even toxic creatures can be consumed, any venom filtered out and stored in the ettercap's own venom sac in it's abdomen. An adult spends its time hunting, eating, and resting. When it lays an egg, it will bury the egg underground and oftentimes forget about it. This stage will last approx. 10-20 years.
An elder ettercap will slowly shed it's shell and will rarely eat. Once an ettercap becomes an elder, it dies after the shell is fully molted, usually taking anywhere between 1-6 months, depending on the lifespan of the creature.

Ettercaps are found primarily in North and South America, although they have been found very rarely in Europe.
Average Intelligence
Ettercaps are not intelligent creatures. They have no concept of communication or society, and live only to eat.
